What's Next?

You should now have a good grip on what style sheets are, and specifically what Cascading Style Sheets are, as well as at least a starting understanding about how CSS relates to and is used with HTML. You should also know now how to download the example files from this book's Web site and extract (or expand) them to a folder you'll be using as your working folder while doing this book's examples.

In the next chapter, Chapter 2, “Creating Your Page's Base Styles,” you start creating your first style sheet. You'll start out with a rundown on how to open and edit the HTML example files, as well as an explanation of some of their contents. That done, you then go on to learn how style rules are inserted in HTML documents and how to use them to apply various display characteristics, including colors, backgrounds, margins, and more, to your page's body and paragraphs.
