Creating a Clamshell Menu

Anyone who has used a GUI— Mac-, Windows-, or UNIX-based—has watched menus in a window collapse and expand. Click a folder, and its contents are displayed below the folder; the other files and directories move down to accommodate the expanded content. In Windows, you click plus and minus signs. On the Mac, you click triangles. You can achieve a similar effect on the Web by using the display property (Figures 24.17 and 24.18).
