The Flavors of DHTML

Unfortunately, Microsoft (Figure 10.1) and Netscape (Figure 10.2) have differing ideas about what technologies should be used to make HTML more dynamic. Fortunately for us, the specifications of these two companies overlap (Figure 10.3), and this area of overlap is the primary topic of this book. Why? Because the Web was founded on a very simple premise: The display of Web documents should be indifferent to the software being used.
