Creating an Object

Simply stated, an object is an HTML element (see "Understanding the Element's Box" in Chapter 7) that has been defined with an ID (or, in the case of an image, that has a name). The HTML element has a unique address in the browser window that allows it to be accessed by the DOM.

Identifying an HTML element as an object (Figure 11.2) allows you to change any of that element's attributes—at least, to the extent that the browser allows.
