Chapter 19. Dreamweaver Primer

Dreamweaver started its life as a DHTML development tool and has integrated more and more HTML tools. It was usually thought of as a WYSIWYG layout program that relied on third-party software to provide rigorous HTML-editing capabilities. But this situation has changed. With the most recent release, Version 4, Dreamweaver now stands on its own.

Dreamweaver includes a bevy of other tools and utilities, such as FTP and site management, and it allows you to create templates that separate content from design. In addition, because Macromedia is also the developer of Flash, Dreamweaver includes several tools that allow you to add Flash text and buttons even if you do not own Macromedia Flash (see "Flash vs. DHTML" in Chapter 10).

In this chapter, I'll show you how to set up CSS using Dreamweaver's tools and how to use Dreamweaver to animate multiple objects along complex paths.
