Downloading Fonts

The Holy Grail of Web-based typography is downloadable fonts. Imagine if, rather than having to rely on the limited list of browser-safe fonts or having to create graphics just to get the typeface you want to use, you could send the font to the visitor's computer automatically.

Actually, the CSS Level 2 standard allows for downloadable fonts. In this example (Code 3.2 and Figure 3.5), I've set up the font Garamond to be downloaded and then used in the level-2 header tag.
