The Dreamweaver Interface

Macromedia worked hard between each release to develop Dreamweaver from a simple DHTML generator into a full-featured Web-design program, and the results are impressive. Although early releases of this software suffered due to a lack of integration between the code and WYSIWYG editors, the most recent release has real-time integration between the two editing modes so that changes made in one mode are reflected in the other instantly.

Dreamweaver provides an easy-to-use layout mode that allows you to add, move, and delete objects directly on the page while it generates the HTML code in the background (Figure 19.1). You can edit the HTML code directly, however, if you feel more comfortable doing things that way.
