Hypertext promises site visitors extra information as needed. But to access that information, you have to click a link, which opens a new document and replaces what you were reading with the new material. This setup can be highly distracting, not to mention frustrating on slow modem connections. Wouldn't it be better if that information—written or visual—simply appeared below the link upon mouseover? That arrangement would truly be hypertext (Figures 25.6 and 25.7).
