8.6. color Media Query

The color property can be used against all visual media types. It is used to describe the number of bits used by the target display in order to depict individual color values. It can accept the min- and max- prefixes.

Monochrome monitors have a color value of 0, so by default color has a minimum value of 1. 4-bit color display can display 16 colors, 8-bit systems can display 256 colors and 24-bit displays are capable of displaying over 16 million colors. If a minimum value of 2 is specified, it formats the page to be displayed for systems that are capable of 2-bit color, which would include 4-bit on up to 24-bit and beyond.
