Chapter 12. Box Properties > border-top Property

12.8. border-top Property

The border-top property works in exactly the same manner as its sibling properties border-right, border-left and border-bottom, which we have already looked at, and sets the value to be assigned to the border to the top of the box only. It can take on all of the values belonging to the border-style, border-color and border-width properties.

The border-top is capable of taking on all of the other values associated with border-style, border-color and border-width properties. It can take a single numerical or named value that sets the width, color value and border style. The border-top property sets the display properties that are applied to the top border only — no other borders are affected. Listing 12.8 depicts sample code that shows how border-top can be implemented. Its results can be seen in Opera 6.0 in Figure 12-10.
