Example: Responding to Application Errors

As a new developer, you've very likely encountered a screen like the one in Figure 12.5. This is the standard ColdFusion error message page. It contains a wealth of good information for the developer, but end users can easily be overwhelmed and frustrated by the page. For this reason, it's a good idea to build a custom error page into your applications that notifies the users of the error in a more friendly way. The <cferror> tag is another feature of the ColdFusion application framework that gives you a way to handle errors much more gracefully.
