What's Next

This chapter introduced ColdFusion looping and the <cfloop> tag. You learned how to iterate over the items in a ColdFusion list and over the records returned by a query. You then read how to implement for-next and while loops. Finally, you learned about ColdFusion collections and how to loop over the contents of a collection.

Many dynamic Web sites use e-mail in some way. Electronic commerce sites send e-mails to customers to confirm their orders and follow up on the status of orders. Other sites let you sign up to receive an e-mail message notifying you of changes to content on the site. Regardless of your reason for using e-mail, ColdFusion makes it simple to build mail messages and distribute them to the intended recipients. What's more, ColdFusion enables you to build your messages dynamically, meaning you can incorporate content from databases, form submissions, and other external sources. The next chapter introduces you to the <cfmail> tag and how you can use it to send messages from your ColdFusion-based Web site.
