Chapter 15. Case Study: Conference Registration Site

Chapter 15. Case Study: Conference Registration Site

The Web is an excellent medium for collecting information from people who are at great distances. One kind of event that brings people together from all over the world is a conference and, regardless of where the conference attendees live, they all need to complete a registration process. A very sensible way to let attendees register is to build a Web-based registration application and let them register online. You will see how to do this over the course of this chapter.

For the purposes of this case study, you are sponsoring a two-day (Monday and Tuesday so that people can get out of work for it!) conference for new ColdFusion developers. Each day is divided into two sessions (morning and afternoon), and conference attendees can choose between two different workshops for each session. Each workshop is limited to 50 participants, and any registrants beyond 50 are to be placed on a waiting list.
