Chapter 6. The User Authentication Framework > Defining the Security Context

Defining the Security Context

The first step in securing an application is the creation of a security context. The security context encompasses the rules, policies, and user groups that are used to control access to an application. A security context can contain several policies, with each policy applying to a different set of users. Security contexts can span multiple applications, and an application can use more than one security context. Many ColdFusion servers can share a security server; security can be handled by a single provider in clustered environments.
