Part III: Extending ColdFusion > Scripting ColdFusion Studio

Chapter 15. Scripting ColdFusion Studio

In this chapter

The Visual Tools Object Model

Building VTOM Scripts

Importing and Executing Scripts

Your ability to customize ColdFusion Studio does not end with keyboard shortcuts and VTML. One of the most impressive features of ColdFusion Studio is the capability to script or automate its behavior. Not only can you build macros that automate tasks such as opening sets of documents and deploying toolbars, but you also can add new functionality to ColdFusion Studio itself. If you need it, you can build it.

To take advantage of this functionality, you must meet a few requirements. Because ColdFusion Studio understands only scripts written in JavaScript or VBScript, you need to be familiar with working in one or both of these languages. This chapter assumes you understand the basics of working in these environments. Even if you do not work with these languages, however, you can still install helpful scripts. Also, to use VBScript, you need Microsoft's ActiveScripting engine installed on your system. You can download it from http://www.microsoft.com, but you already have it installed if you have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher on your system.
