How CORBA Works

In order to understand how CORBA works, you're going to walk through it step by step and use a number of pictures. CORBA follows a very simple flow of operations. Figure 13.1 shows the basic steps used by CORBA to perform an operation. Basically, a client makes a request that is accepted by the ORB. The ORB takes this request, performs various operations (which is discussed in a moment), and hands the request to an object service. Any return values are passed back through the ORB to the client for use. This is the simplest, most basic level of how CORBA works. You take each of the three pieces of the CORBA operation, examine each one in step, and see where ColdFusion fits in.
