Addressing the Web's Statelessness

As explained in Chapter 2, "Introduction to ColdFusion," Web clients do not maintain open connections with Web servers while interacting with Web-based applications. Rather, every client request stands on its own, with no knowledge of any prior interaction. It is the Web's lack of persistence between sessions that is referred to as its statelessness. This limitation means that variables or flags set during one processed request are not available during the next processed request.
