Searching for Special Characters as Literals

Special characters—most obviously, the < and > characters—have special meaning for Verity. If you want to actually search for these characters, you need to use a backslash (\) to "escape" each special character. For example, if you want to search for documents that contain <TABLE>, you need to do it like this:

CRITERIA="\<TABLE\>"
