Chapter 25. Online Commerce > Building the QuickStore Application

Building the QuickStore Application

This example brings together the elements necessary in a basic Internet store. Because many Webmasters would like to integrate a store into an existing Web site, you'll create a custom tag that can be placed into any page. The custom tag will use client and session management, so these must be enabled in the APPLICATION.CFM file for your application. See Chapter 27, "Session Variables and Cookies," for tips on enabling client and session management. The tag also uses a database to store products, categories, customer information, and sales data. This data can be used for delivery, support, and marketing. When viewing Listings 25.1 through 25.6, remember that each listing represents a separate custom tag. These tags must be placed in the same directory of the application you want to use them in, or the CUSTOMTAGS directory underneath your ColdFusion server's root directory. When the QuickStore.cfm template is called from another ColdFusion template, as shown in Listing 27.7, you will have a complete online shopping cart system. The following sections walk you through the application.
