Chapter 32. Event Scheduling > Programming Control Tasks with the CFSCHEDULE Ta...

Programming Control Tasks with the CFSCHEDULE Tag

The Administrator control is simply a form-based interface for using the CFSCHEDULE tag. The only difference between the Administrator and using the CFSCHEDULE tag is that the Administrator can access a record of all scheduled events and has error checking to make sure you write in the proper values for the tag attributes. The only advantage of the CFSCHEDULE tag over the Administrator is that your security is maintained. You don't have to allow someone Administrator access to create a scheduled event. This does not mean anything for most people, but this security is essential for ISPs who want to offer ColdFusion services. Copy the form template from the Administrator and use that as a front end when dealing with users who want to add tasks. This is helpful to them, maintains the security of your Administration pages, and ensures that the CFSCHEDULE tag is always formatted properly. This means you have to write a page to test the data before running the CFSCHEDULE tag, but that shouldn't be too hard. Chapter 15, "Form Data Validation," has information on data validation.
