Using CFFORM

Before you get into the CFFORM subtags, you have to discuss the tag that controls them all—CFFORM. To avoid confusion, I will refer to the various tags that go inside the CFFORM block as subtags. Every tag discussed in this chapter (with the exception of CFGRIDUPDATE) must be placed within a CFFORM block. CFFORM is a small replacement for the standard HTML form tag that allows you to include the CFFORM subtags onto a page. When a page is actually run, the CFFORM tag creates a standard HTML form element containing links to the JavaScript code mentioned earlier as well as to the Java tags mentioned later. On the whole, there's really very little difference between the CFFORM tag and the HTML form tag. First you read about the tag itself and then you go back to CFFORM in general. Table 23.1 shows the various attributes of the CFFORM tag.
