Using Client Scope Variables

Although they can be used for similar purposes, the storage methods of Client and Session scope variables are very different, and each has some distinct advantages over the other.

Whereas Session (and Application) variables are stored in a shared memory pool, Client scope variables are in memory only while a page request is being processed. They are then stored either in the Registry, a database, or as a client cookie, depending on the value you set for the clientStorage attribute of the CFAPPLICATION tag.
