Chapter 3. Introducing Dreamweaver MX > Creating the Book Template

Creating the Book Template

In certain sections in the following chapters, you are instructed to create a new ColdFusion page from the bookexample template. In this section, you will create that template. A Dreamweaver template, much like a Microsoft Word template, lets you design your page once and then create copies of the template when you need a new page.

In addition to any formatting layouts with layers, frames, tables, or Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that you apply to the page, Dreamweaver lets you add editable and noneditable regions into an HTML or CFML page. When the template is used to create a page, only the regions set as editable are available for modification. Areas that are locked cannot be modified.
