Chapter 3. Introducing Dreamweaver MX > Understanding the Dreamweaver Workspace

Understanding the Dreamweaver Workspace

In the grand scheme of this book, Dreamweaver is a visual development environment for ColdFusion applications. Rather than relying on text editing alone, Dreamweaver lets you develop ColdFusion pages as they would be seen in a web browser. At the same time, Dreamweaver lets you work directly with the code with just the click of a mouse button.

When you open Dreamweaver for the first time, a Workspace Setup dialog box displays, as shown in Figure 3.1. When you work in Dreamweaver, you are working within the Dreamweaver workspace. The Dreamweaver workspace represents a specific configuration of the Dreamweaver environment, such as displaying certain panels, document window views, and toolbars.
