Web Development B.C. (Before ColdFusion)

With the exponential growth of the web, people from a broad spectrum of backgrounds began to use the web as an electronic encyclopedia. If you looked hard enough, you could find information on just about anything. However, when the initial excitement of the web began to wear off, something began to become painfully clear to the web developers and web masters of popular web sites: It was impossible to maintain hundreds of HTML pages so that they would contain the latest and most accurate information.

At the same time, web developers started looking for ways to make their web sites more interactive. Although HTML’s capability to format text and link to other HTML documents with a click of the mouse lies at the core of the web’s usefulness, the promise of processing user-entered information and connecting databases to the web proved even more tantalizing.
