Understanding the CFML behind Dynamic Tables

To structure records for display to the user, you can bind a recordset to an HTML table. In Dreamweaver, binding means associating a page element with a recordset or variable. When ColdFusion processes the page, it creates a table row for each record in the recordset. In Dreamweaver, you can accomplish this in one dialog box, or you can customize the display of the table by applying Show Region server behaviors.

You can further customize the table by taking advantage of recordset filtering to give the user the capability to sort on column names. In addition, by writing a little CFML, you can alternate the table rows’ colors.
