Recording and Using Commands

If you need to record multiple commands from both the mouse and keyboard, you can use Dreamweaver’s command recorder to store combinations of keyboard input and mouse clicks. You can record commands in two ways: recording your keyboard and mouse input in the background, or using the History panel and selecting previous commands to store as a set.

Some Dreamweaver commands cannot be stored, such as modifying code directly in Code View or the Quick Tag Editor. In addition, you cannot store some kinds of server behaviors, such as dynamic text and dynamic form elements. When you perform an action that cannot be recorded, you will receive an error message. If you are recording commands in the background, an error message appears that states the command cannot be recorded. If you are using the History panel, a red X will appear on the command icon, as shown in Figure 22.20.
