Chapter 6. Creating Pages with Dynamic E... > Prefilling Form Pages Dynamically

Prefilling Form Pages Dynamically

In Chapter 4, you built an action page that prefilled text boxes by binding form variables. In this chapter, you will go one step further by creating an action page that queries a database using form-driven queries and prefills text boxes dynamically. Form-driven queries simply consist of a CFQUERY statement that contains one or more form variables in SQL.

You will use dynamicForm.cfm, created in the previous section, as the form page. When a user selects a product in the dynamic list box menu, the page sends a form request to the page specified in its FORM tag. In the action page, you create a number of text boxes to display the contents of a recordset. Using the form variable passed to it, the query filters the recordset.
