Packaging Extension Files

Once you have built and tested your extension file, you’re ready to package it as an MXP file. Once packaged, you can upload your extension to the Dreamweaver Exchange on the Macromedia web site or distribute the extension yourself within your organization or personal web site.

To create an MXP file, which contains all of the files for your extension, you must first create an MXI file that describes your extension, where the files should be installed, and so on. MXI files consist of a set of XML-like tags.You can create MXI files in Dreamweaver using the document window in Code View. The following example shows a simple MXI file:
