Understanding the Dreamweaver APIs

Dreamweaver offers an API for most elements of the Dreamweaver interface, including menus, dialog boxes, toolbars, and commands. Dreamweaver also provides APIs to access specialized functionality, such as interacting with databases, creating files, and performing HTTP operations. In addition, the Dreamweaver JavaScript API, which includes more than 600 functions, lets you access any Dreamweaver element, including the Dreamweaver DOM.

Table 24.2 describes the extension API categories.
