Understanding the Role of JavaScript

Widely used in web pages, JavaScript provides a run-time scripting language for calling functions and conditional logic. In Dreamweaver, JavaScript provides access to the Dreamweaver APIs, which let you create powerful, sophisticated functionality.

Besides accessing the Dreamweaver APIs, JavaScript also provides access to the Dreamweaver Document Object Model (DOM). The Dreamweaver DOM represents a map of a document, such as HTML in a web page or extension. Using DOM, you can access any HTML tag on the page with a programming language, such as JavaScript.
