Chapter 10. Nested Coding Concepts > A Place for Everything

A Place for Everything

Fusebox applications are hierarchical creations by design. This design characteristic improves modularity, eases maintenance, and generally improves development habits. However, to take best advantage of the hierarchy, it is imperative to understand how the various files of a circuit are interrelated, and how circuits relate to one another.

Choosing where to place code to affect various portions of an application is not a complex task as long as you take a bit of time to really understand the nested nature that is inherent to Fusebox. Fuses, fuseactions, circuits, and entire applications can be modified with appropriate placement of modifications. Finally, ColdFusion 5’s UDFs can also be readily incorporated into Fusebox applications, using much the same logic that is applied to “regular” code.
