Part 2: Week 2 At a Glance > Using Advanced Form Techniques to Manage Input

Day 12. Using Advanced Form Techniques to Manage Input

In previous lessons, you've learned much about Web forms and how they're used to handle input from users. In today's discussion, you'll learn about some advanced design techniques that will enable you to get more from your forms. You'll find out how to handle custom insertion, update, and delete actions, as well as how to consolidate your forms and make them easy to manage if your site's databases change structure. This lesson also introduces two <CFFORM> tags not covered in yesterday's lesson, both of which provide new ways to display complex data and accept user input.

Today's lesson covers

  • Using SQL to update, insert, and delete records

  • Creating multifunction form pages

  • Displaying and selecting data with <CFTREE>

  • Displaying, selecting, and updating data with <CFGRID> and <CFGRIDUPDATE>
