Understanding ColdFusion's Web Application Framework

To understand how several ColdFusion templates can work as a whole, think about visiting an online store that sells videotapes. It's likely you'd first be asked to log in or register. During the process, the site might present a form that would ask you some very personal questions, such as what your hobbies are, your favorite color, and so on.

As you browse the site, you see content tailored to the answers you provided to the questions on the login form. If you specified your favorite color as ochre, you'd now see a yellow background and navigation bar; if you listed "fish" as one of your interests, you'd now be shown lots of Jacques Cousteau videos, and so on. If you select a video to purchase and then continue to browse, the site "remembers" your selection by placing it in some kind of shopping cart, where it remains as you continue to browse.
