Day 7

Quiz

1: What is the primary function of a form page?
A1: To collect data from the user and pass it on to an action page or program.
2: In the preceding examples, how does data input into a form page get to the action program or page?
A2: It is passed or "posted" in the form of a URL, behind the scenes .
3: What's the primary difference between the <CFINSERT> and <CFUPDATE> tags?
A3: The former is used to add new records to a table; the latter, to alter records already existing in a table.
4: Do input forms have to be coded as ColdFusion templates (.cfm files)?
A4: No. Form pages are a function of HTML and don't require ColdFusion. In the examples in this chapter, we created our forms as cfm files only because we also used ColdFusion queries and output within the forms .
5: What is a "hidden" form field used for?
A5: To post data to an action page without having it appear in the page seen by the user.
6: Why does the <CFUPDATE> tag have to be supplied with a primary key, or ID field?
A6: Because the primary key field is the only one that uniquely identifies the record to be updated.
