Chapter 20. Graphing > Introducing ColdFusion Graphing

Introducing ColdFusion Graphing

We'll start with an overview of the charting features included in ColdFusion. ColdFusion comes with a series of tags that will allow you to:

  • Create many different types of graphs, including pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, and scatter charts.

  • Format your graphs with an extensive number of formatting options for controlling fonts, colors, labels, and more.

  • Display the graphs on any ColdFusion page as JPEG images, PNG images, or interactive Flash charts.

  • Allow users to drill down on data shown in your charts. For instance, you could allow people to click the wedges in a pie chart, revealing the data represented in that wedge.

  • Combine several different charts, displaying them together on the page. For instance, you might create a scatter chart that shows individual purchases over time, and then add a line chart on top of it that shows average spending by other users.

  • Save the charts to the server's drive for later use.
