Using Application.cfm

To get started with the Web application framework, you first must create a special file called Application.cfm. In most respects, this file is just an ordinary ColdFusion template. Only two things make Application.cfm special:

  • The code in your Application.cfm file will be automatically included just before any of your application pages. The behavior is just as if you included the file using an ordinary <CFINCLUDE> tag at the very top of each of your regular .cfm files.

  • You can't visit an Application.cfm page directly. If you attempt to visit an Application.cfm page with a browser, you will receive an error message from ColdFusion.
