Design Tools

During development, at times you will want to see how the page is taking shape. Design view displays an approximation of how the browser will display your code, while maintaining your ability to modify the page contents as necessary. Design view is great for applying Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), drawing layers, viewing and even drawing tables, and creating framesets, and is required for use when previewing Live Data.

The CSS Panel

Perhaps the most useful design tool is the CSS Styles panel (Figure 7.23). To display the CSS Styles panel, select Window > CSS Styles or press Shift-F11. Applying and editing CSS are available as two separate modes controlled by the radio buttons labeled Apply Styles and Edit Styles, respectively. You may attach style sheets, create new styles, and edit and delete styles using either the context menu, the Options menu, or the buttons located along the bottom of the panel.
