Understanding Verity's Search Syntax

You've explored a number of ways to index information and make it searchable on the Web. You've also discovered using AND, OR, and wildcards, which make your search criteria work more easily for you.

It doesn't stop at AND and OR. Verity provides a fairly rich set of operators you can use in your search criteria. Your users probably won't use these operators along with their _keywords when they are running a search—most people won't go beyond ANDs and ORs. However, you might, in certain circumstances, want to use some of these operators behind the scenes. Table 34.7 lists all the operators available by category.
