How the Problem Was Solved

The problem was to deliver a chat system. Initially the chat system requirements did not specify the turnaround time in message delivery (for example, real time). As you have seen, a polling-type system would have been functional, but in reality it would not have been successful. The polling system would have experienced performance issues, and undoubtedly it would resist being scaled.

By using the FCS, TSC solved the major challenge that was going to determine whether the project was to be a success or not.
