Hypertext was the basic concept that propelled the idea of the Web forward, allowing information and ideas to be linked together in a way that hadn’t happened before on the Internet. Combined with most Web browsers’ graphical and multimedia capabilities, hypertext links (hyperlinks) make the Web an entirely new medium for communication and publishing.
