Text on Your Pages

Early on, the Internet was nothing more than text, the exchange of ideas across distance via wires carrying the written word. And while we’ve made vast improvements in our formatting and graphics, done away with the wires, and evolved to a new state of grace, this basic exchange remains the same. We need to communicate effectively, and we still rely on our words to carry a message.

Given the influences of advertising and design, it’s not surprising that the World Wide Web has lifted text to an exciting new level. With each new version of HTML came improvements in the treatment of type. We now wield more power over our wordplay than ever before, controlling every aspect of it nearly as precisely as our peers in print.
