Filenames

Adobe GoLive contains a kind of play book of filenaming rules that ensure cross-platform compatibility. When it encounters a filename that violates one of these rules, the Site window and the File Inspector indicate this for you. The File Inspector even lists the rule itself so that you understand exactly how to correct the naming error.

The default set of filenaming constraints is the one that applies to your own file system, either Windows 98/NT/2000 or Mac OS. Other sets you can choose include Unix, DOS/Windows 3.1, GoLive standard, GoLive small caps, and GoLive strict. The three GoLive sets are described in Site Filename Constraints preferences.
