Chapter 12. Working with Links > Adding Navigational Links

Adding Navigational Links

Links come in many forms. In effect, your page is composed of links even before it connects externally, since images and other elements are actually attached by linking to them within your Site folder. Links can originate from text or images. They can connect to anchor points on the same page, other pages within your Site, anchor points on other pages, external URLs, sound or multimedia files, .pdf documents, email addresses, and other files for opening or downloading. In this section, we’ll discuss the ins and outs of establishing links through text, images, and other objects, for the purpose of navigating through your Site and referencing others.

It’s important to note that in GoLive, you should make sure your page is saved into your Site before creating any links to or from it. Otherwise the link created will be saved as a link to the local directory on your hard drive rather than as a proper Site page, creating big problems when the page is moved or uploaded. For this reason, we highly recommend creating and opening pages from within your Site Window.
