Chapter 11. Using Graphic Elements > Using a Tracing Image

Using a Tracing Image

One exciting new development with this version of GoLive is known as the Tracing Image, and it comes complete with its own palette. Tracing Images allows you to import image files to place behind your layout as templates, so that you can design with perfect precision and consistency on top of them. What’s more, you can actually cut out parts of the Tracing Image and use them as objects on your page, to avoid the redundant creation of images and thereby improve your workflow.

Formats that can be imported as Tracing Images include Illustrator native (ai), Photoshop 8-bit native (psd), gif, jpg, png, bmp, eps, pcx, pdf, pict (Mac), pixar, svg, targa, tiff, and Amiga iff.
