Going Live

The next chapter will finally show you how to take the fantastic Site you’ve completed and put it up on the server for live presentation. Before jumping the gun, however, consider setting up a limited-access section of the site for beta testers. Or, better yet, consider building a staging server.

A staging server is just a repository where files can be stored before the Site goes live. The purpose is so that once a Site has been tentatively completed, a select group of users (often referred to as beta testers) can run through the Site looking for errors, improvements, and so forth. You’ll be surprised how much feedback you can get when you solicit it from your users, and you’ll find this feedback invaluable in preventing large, overbearing errors.
