Chapter 31. Publishing Your Site > Publishing Workgroup Sites

Publishing Workgroup Sites

Publishing workgroup sites does not differ dramatically from publishing files via FTP or via WebDav. The one difference to consider is that the user publishing the files must have administrative access. If you do not have administrative access, you will not be allowed to publish the files to the live Web server.

In addition to publishing the files through GoLive’s interface, you can also publish the files through the workgroup’s Web-based administrator. Open the administration system and log on via your username and password. You will see a section entitled Publishing. Click on that section, and you are prompted to select the site you want to publish, followed by the server to which you want to publish the site. If the server of choice is not listed, you will have to create a reference to a new server and provide the server’s information (including domain name, username, password, port, and so on). Although the interface is different, the information required is the same as required when setting up an FTP or WebDAV server. Fill in the information as required and continue to define how the Web site should be published. These options mimic those available when exporting a site and are discussed in this chapter’s “Going Live” section.
