Chapter 1. Introducing GoLive 6.0 > Standard and Emerging Web Technologies

Standard and Emerging Web Technologies

Finally, the latest edition of GoLive illustrates Adobe’s commitment to supporting and promoting emerging Web-based technologies. Whether authoring the W3C’s Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) for the production of interactive audiovisual presentations, Wireless Markup Language (WML) for the display of content on handheld PDAs and cellular phones, or eXtensible Markup Language (XML) for the purpose of creating data-driven documents in multiple formats, GoLive continues and will continue to support and integrate the array of emerging technologies into its GUI.

Adobe GoLive 6.0 supports authoring of WML, either visually via new Objects in the Objects palette or by hand; XHTML Basic with an integrated simulator of how the page will look on supporting handhelds (Windows only); SMIL, including a preview module that allows for visual layout and timeline controls; and XML authoring support, to include support for emerging XML languages such as SVG (Scalar Vector Graphics).
