Using a Photoshop or Illustrator File as a Tracing Image

Whether you have created your mockup in Photoshop or Illustrator, you can use either of these programs’ native file formats (PSD, AI, and AVI) as a tracing image within GoLive. A tracing image simply serves as a backdrop with which you can line all your page elements against, and is particularly useful for manually assembling pieces of the page together.

To specify a tracing image for a page, select Window, Tracing image from GoLive’s command menu at the top of the interface. This palette houses all of the possible options for a tracing image, starting with its source. Simply browse to the location of the Photoshop or Illustrator file that will serve as the tracing image. Second, specify its opacity. Although you can adjust the opacity at any point in time, you may find it handy to select an opacity that is light enough that it is not distracting from what actually exists on the page.
