Chapter 27. About Dynamic Content > How Dynamic Web Sites Work

How Dynamic Web Sites Work

No matter what type of site they are, all dynamic sites basically work the same way. The user clicks a link or a button in his browser, initiating an HTTP request. Often this may include information like a search term the user typed in a search box. The Web server receives the request, and the filename extension in the URL is a tip-off that this is a dynamic content request. For example, let’s say the server receives a request for this page:

http://www.myserver.com/search.jsp
